A new scientific study on pollen at the Ballon Generali in Paris

Observing pollen… from the sky: focus on a new scientific study conducted at the Ballon Generali in Paris.
October 14, National Air Quality Day, is an opportunity to highlight a study conducted from the Generali Balloon in Paris that sheds new light on air quality in cities: for the first time, researchers have continuously measured pollen concentrations up to 150 meters above Paris using an innovative optical sensor (Beenose).

This work, led by Jean-Baptiste Renard, a researcher at the CNRS, and published in the journal Atmosphere (MDPI), reveals a vertical stratification of pollen in urban environments, paving the way for a better understanding of the dispersion of bioaerosols and their effects on health.
In fact, pollen does not float uniformly. It forms distinct vertical layers in the urban atmosphere, probably influenced by surrounding forests and weather conditions.

This research illustrates the purpose of the Generali Balloon in Paris: a unique observatory for air quality, serving prevention and environmental health.
